Basilé peak day trip

Introduction

Pico Basilé is the highest mountain in Equatorial Guinea. It is located on the island of Bioko, very close to the city of Malabo. At an altitude of 3,011 m (9,878 ft), it is the summit of the largest and tallest of the three overlapping basaltic shield volcanoes that make up the island. From the peak, there is a beautiful view of Mount Cameroon to the northeast. If the weather conditions are good, you can visit the Church of Bisila, which is 2,800 meters above sea level, and take a walk around it. The duration of this excursion is half a day. The plan is to leave in the morning taking advantage of the clarity of dawn and try to reach the top about 8:30 or 09:00 AM. Depending on the weather conditions, we can have a beautiful view of the city of Malabo, so don’t forget your camera. During the descent, we will stop at an old dormant volcano to observe its vegetation, and according to the season, we will be able to take some of the trails marked for the sighting of some of the primates of the Bioko Island. At 3000 meters high, the cold and rain can make an appearance, so it is totally advisable to come provided with warm clothes.

I have travelled to Equatorial Guinea with this company and had great assistance and service all the time. The company answers very quickly, provides help to get the Visa, sorted all my papers to go through immigration and quarantine. I visited between the 22nd and 28th of November 2021, great service, recommended.

I really enjoyed the tour of Camasa Finca Sampaka with Rumbo Malabo. The group was small which made the experience even better. Tours like this are important for nationals and tourists so we can understand the history of our country and see what we have to offer to ourselves and possibly the rest of the world. Can't wait for the next excursion!
