Trip to Corisco – “Magane Say”

Corisco or Mandyi is an idyllic island located in front of the Muni River in mainland Equatorial Guinea. It is one of the most paradisiacal and beautiful places in the country. And as with everything worthwhile, logistics can be difficult and fraught with challenges.

On this trip, departure will take place from Bata early in the morning. From there, we will drive over the famous Mbini Bridge until we reach Cape San Juan. Once there, we will take a motorized boat to Corisco on a journey that lasts about two hours, led by a local captain with extensive experience on this route.

Once on the island, we will settle in the area of Magane Say, where the real adventure begins. We will visit the recently finished Church of Corisco and the ruins of the old church built by settlers more than 200 years ago. We will pay our respects and learn about the history of the last Benga king, Santiago Uganda (1906-1960), by visiting his tomb. We will also go into the local structures to talk with people and learn about their customs.

The next day, we will visit the most instagrammable beach of JOKO, a very popular and perhaps the most recognizable place on the island, because of its long beaches that, when they converge, form a tongue of land that makes you feel like the king of the seas. This paradise is perfect for diving and fish watching, such as rays, that for sure will approach you in these crystalline waters. From here, we will be totally at your disposal to take you to more sites or do the activities you wish, adapting to your tastes: resting, meditating, diving, walking, fishing… and anything you can think of.

In addition, in line with our vision in Rumbo Malabo, we will always take you with local people to contribute to the improvement of the island’s economy. You will have the opportunity to directly help the locals by purchasing bracelets, pendants and other 100% natural jewelry. And as if that wasn’t enough, you will be able to contribute voluntarily to our school material distribution program to provide books to the cultural center of Corisco.

I have travelled to Equatorial Guinea with this company and had great assistance and service all the time. The company answers very quickly, provides help to get the Visa, sorted all my papers to go through immigration and quarantine. I visited between the 22nd and 28th of November 2021, great service, recommended.

I really enjoyed the tour of Camasa Finca Sampaka with Rumbo Malabo. The group was small which made the experience even better. Tours like this are important for nationals and tourists so we can understand the history of our country and see what we have to offer to ourselves and possibly the rest of the world. Can't wait for the next excursion!
