From there, enjoy a scenic road journey (approximately 1.5–2 hours) from the coast into the mountainous heart of Bioko, entering the breathtaking Pico Basile National Park and heading toward the town of Moka.

Experience the thrill of ascending winding mountain roads as the urban landscape fades into lush high-altitude rainforest, where mist often embraces the treetops.

Wake up surrounded by mountain tranquility and prepare for a breathtaking hiking day. Today you will venture deeper into the rainforest to discover one of Bioko’s best-kept treasures: the mysterious Lake Biao.

Immerse yourself in adventure with a guided trek through dense vegetation
(technical difficulty: easy; elevation gain: 559 m; total distance: 8 km; estimated duration: 4 hours).

Marvel at the majesty of Lake Biao, a peaceful volcanic crater lake surrounded by intense greenery. Often wrapped in soft mist, it creates a mystical and deeply calming atmosphere.

Day 3: Untouched Beaches & The Nighttime Miracle of Ureka (Turtle Nesting Season)

Today we head toward the remote southern coast of Bioko to the spectacular Ureka Beach (approximately 2–3 hours by car from Moka). The journey itself is an expedition, descending from mountains to the Atlantic Ocean.

Feel the freedom of the wind as landscapes shift dramatically from rainforest highlands to panoramic ocean views.

Relax on Ureka’s vast stretch of dark volcanic sand, pristine and nearly untouched. Swim in warm waters or stroll along the shoreline surrounded by swaying palm trees.

Depending on the season (generally September to March), witness an unforgettable and magical experience: giant sea turtles nesting under the stars. Watch these ancient creatures emerge from the ocean to lay their eggs—an extraordinary moment that connects you deeply to nature and conservation.

Fun Fact: Ureka is one of the most important Atlantic nesting sites for sea turtles, including the leatherback (the largest turtle species in the world), the green turtle, and the olive ridley. Local communities play a vital role in protecting these nests.

After breakfast by the ocean, we return toward Malabo, stopping along the way to explore the island’s history and natural beauty.

Discover Luba, a natural harbor town with a fascinating colonial past. Its coastal setting and historical remnants transport you to another era.

Continue to Batete, a small village where colonial architecture meets rural life. Admire its impressive church and experience authentic local culture.

Enjoy time at Arena Blanca, one of Bioko’s most photographed beaches. Feel the fine white sand beneath your feet and swim in turquoise waters—a stunning contrast to Ureka’s volcanic shores.

Return to Malabo in the afternoon, carrying unforgettable memories of pristine beaches and charming villages.

Stroll along the seafront promenade, enjoying ocean views and observing daily life unfold.
